The purpose of this section is to help provide a portal into
South Carolina’s past through the lives of individuals who
lived before and during the Civil War. Instead of focusing strictly
on all well known individuals, we’ve intentionally included
more of the lesser known ones to help provide a wider view of
the time period. Through the generosity of the University of
South
Carolina Press we are able to bring you a small variety of individuals
who lived during this period.
